Amaka is accounting integration software that connects point-of-sale systems to accounting platforms, automating the daily transfer of sales data that would otherwise be entered by hand. The problem is mundane, universal among hospitality and retail businesses, and surprisingly expensive. Every trading day a café, restaurant or shop generates a set of figures — gross sales by category, tax collected, discounts, tips, payment method splits, refunds, cash variance — and someone has to get those into the accounting ledger. Done manually it consumes a bookkeeper's time, introduces transcription errors, and typically happens in arrears, so the business operates without current financial information. Amaka removes the step entirely by syncing the data automatically. The integrations connect widely used point-of-sale platforms including Square, Lightspeed, Clover, Shopify, Toast, Vend and others to accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks Online and MYOB. Setup is guided rather than technical, with account and tax code mapping configured once so each sales category, payment type and tax rate posts to the correct ledger account thereafter. Synchronisation then runs on a schedule, typically nightly, creating properly structured journal entries or invoices with the appropriate tax treatment, and reconciling payment settlements against bank deposits — including the merchant fee deductions that make card settlements fail to match gross sales and which are a persistent source of reconciliation difficulty. Multi-location businesses can map each site to its own accounts or tracking categories, giving per-venue reporting without separate bookkeeping. Historical data can be backdated on setup. Because the sync is automatic and continuous, the accounting file stays current, which changes what the owner can see: daily margin and trading performance rather than a picture assembled weeks later. Support and setup assistance are included, and the company also serves accounting and bookkeeping practices managing integrations on behalf of clients. A free version and free trial are available, with paid plans from around USD 17.99 per month.
