Codefresh is a continuous integration and continuous delivery platform built specifically for modern containerised and Kubernetes-based applications, rather than adapted from tooling designed for an earlier era of deployment. That origin shows in its architecture: pipelines run as containers natively, every step executes in its own container image, and Kubernetes and Docker are first-class concepts rather than plugins bolted onto a legacy build server. For teams whose applications are containerised, this removes a great deal of configuration friction. Pipelines are defined as code in YAML held alongside the application source, with steps for checking out code, building images, running tests, scanning for vulnerabilities, pushing to registries and deploying to clusters. A built-in Docker registry and image caching speed builds substantially by reusing layers between runs, which is one of the platform's more tangible performance advantages. Parallel execution and matrix builds handle test suites and multi-configuration builds efficiently. The deployment side has moved increasingly toward GitOps, where the desired state of an environment is declared in a Git repository and an operator continuously reconciles the running cluster to match it; Codefresh builds on Argo CD and Argo Workflows to provide this with a managed control plane, dashboards and multi-cluster visibility, which addresses the practical difficulty of running Argo at scale across many teams and clusters. Deployment strategies including blue-green and canary releases, automated rollback on failed health checks, and progressive delivery are supported. Visibility features show which version of which service is running in which environment and which commit and pull request it came from — a question that becomes surprisingly hard to answer in a microservice estate. Integrations cover source control, registries, cloud providers, testing and security tools. A free version and free trial are available, with paid plans from around USD 99 per month. Paid tiers increase concurrent build capacity and add enterprise security controls.
