Cubix vs MediaRich ECM for SharePoint Comparison: Everything You Need to Know Before Choosing

Cubix is an enterprise asset management and workflow orchestration platform developed by the UK-based media technology company Ortana Media Group, built specifically for media and broadcast organisations. Broadcasters, post-production houses and content owners manage vast libraries of video and associated files that move through complex processes, including ingest, transcoding, quality control, localisation, distribution and archiving. Coordinating these steps across on-premises storage, cloud services and third-party tools is difficult, and rigid legacy systems can hinder the adoption of new workflows. Cubix addresses this with a flexible platform that combines media asset management with orchestration of operational processes. Its core approach is a true hybrid cloud architecture, allowing organisations to manage assets and run workflows across on-premises infrastructure and public cloud environments in a unified manner. This flexibility allows media organisations to adopt cloud services at their own pace, integrating new tools and processing capacity as their needs evolve, while protecting investments in existing on-premises storage, infrastructure and operational systems. Key capabilities include metadata management and search, browse proxies and review tools, a visual workflow designer for automating media processes, and integration with a wide range of third-party systems such as transcoders, QC tools, storage platforms, AI services and playout systems. Orchestration features manage task scheduling, resource allocation and monitoring, while support for cloud services from providers such as AWS and Azure enables scalable processing and storage tiers. Delivery workflows help package and distribute content to broadcasters, streaming platforms and other partners in the required formats. The platform is modular and can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud or in hybrid configurations, with professional services for implementation. Cubix is aimed at broadcasters, media service providers, sports organisations, content owners and post-production companies. Pricing starts from around GBP 199 with a free trial; there is no permanently free version.
