General Information
Overview
Run proprietary or vendor trading applications assured of maximum performance and the support of expert technical staff.
TradeLog is a desktop tax reporting and trade accounting application built specifically for active traders in the United States, including those who qualify for or are considering trader tax status. Active traders frequently execute hundreds or thousands of transactions a year across stocks, options, ETFs and other instruments, and broker-issued 1099-B forms do not always reconcile neatly with what must be reported to the IRS, especially where wash sales across multiple accounts, mark-to-market elections or options adjustments are involved. Preparing accurate tax reports from raw trade data is therefore time-consuming and error-prone. TradeLog addresses this by importing trade history from brokers, matching opening and closing transactions, and applying the relevant tax rules to produce reports ready for filing. Its approach emphasises tax compliance first, giving traders and their accountants confidence that realised gains and losses are calculated correctly and consistently. Core functionality includes trade history management across multiple brokerage accounts, automated wash sale detection and adjustment across accounts and instruments, support for Section 475 mark-to-market accounting, and generation of Form 8949 and Schedule D reports, including formats suitable for import into tax preparation software. Reconciliation tools compare results against broker 1099-B figures to help explain differences, while performance reports allow traders to analyse profits and losses by symbol, strategy or period. The software supports equities, options, ETFs, mutual funds, futures and some other asset types, and it is designed to handle high volumes of trades efficiently. TradeLog runs on-premise on Windows computers and is targeted at active and day traders, professional traders, trading businesses and tax professionals who prepare returns for such clients. It is particularly relevant where tax complexity makes standard broker reporting insufficient. Pricing starts from around USD 89 with a free trial available; there is no permanently free version.
