We use an online marketplace subscription fee model. We charge lawyers monthly to use our online marketplace. Theres no need for a big team or offices early on. Most online marketplace businesses only need two functions early on: people building the website and people working on connecting the buyers with the sellers. The online marketplace is a true example of a modern-day opportunity. An online marketplace brings buyers and sellers together in ways that were never possible before. To this day, there is no online marketplace for legal services in Canada. In our case, the buyer is the person with the legal issue, and the lawyer is the seller. We can bring our marketplace with minimal capital requirements since theres no inventory to buy and store products. I was motivated to start a lawyer referral service after speaking to the founder of Avvo, Mark Britton. He had just sold his company for around $850 million, and after doing research, I knew Canada and other Commonwealth countries had nothing like it. We have transferred our high SEO powered website to operate as a lead generation tool for lawyers. We have signed up our best lawyers under the new model. The feedback from our lawyers regarding the new model has been overwhelmingly positive.
