Crane Transport

My name is Danny Crane. I am the owner and president of Crane Transport Incorporated. We are a family owned and operated asset based trucking company located in Gainesville, GA. I would like to thank you for the opportunity to introduce you to our company. I began my professional career in the trucking industry back in 1965 as a billing clerk for Northern Freight Lines out of Gainesville, GA. I had yet to even graduate high school but needed a job to help out my family. I then moved on to Overnitght Transportation from 1967-1968 as an OS&D / billing clerk. As the Vietnam War grew near, I was drafted into the United States Army and served our great country for the following two years. Once out of the Army, I went to work for a long standing trucking company in Atlanta, GA called Brown Transport Inc. Over the next fourteen years, I worked as the General Manager for the Special Commodities Division which is now commonly known as the Brokerage Division. My family and I traveled around to multiple states creating these brokerage offices for Brown. Eventually, my job landed us back in Northeast Georgia during the spring of 1984. Thinking I was done with the trucking industry, I went out on a limb and purchased an old family hardware store in the Blackshear Place area of Oakwood, GA in 1984. My family worked with me at the hardware store over the next seven years until I had a great opportunity to start another trucking company called CPS Trucking in Alto, GA. As my wife and I raised our three kids, we successfully operated CPS Trucking for nearly eight years. I ran into some health issues during 1999 and decided to retire and enjoy life with my wife of now almost 50 years and my three children who by now were young adults. Over the next two years, my work ethic along with my desire to have a successful family business got the best of me. On January 1st, 2001 Crane Transport Inc. was created in a rented, slightly run down office in Flowery Branch, GA. We started our operation with 10 worn out Freightliners and 2 local customers. As you review our company website, you will see that we have grown in to an operation of 300 tractors and nearly 750 trailers.
