ARIS

ARIS is a business process management and process mining suite originally developed by IDS Scheer from the architecture framework devised by Professor August Wilhelm Scheer, later owned by Software AG, and now marketed as an independent business. It is one of the best-known platforms for professional process modelling and is widely used in large organisations to document, analyse and improve how work is performed. The problem it addresses is that complex enterprises need a reliable, governed picture of their processes, systems, risks and organisational structures in order to drive transformation, maintain compliance and implement enterprise software successfully. ARIS approaches this with a central repository and a rich modelling method, including its well-known event-driven process chain notation alongside BPMN, allowing organisations to create interconnected models that serve as a single source of truth for business architecture and continuous improvement work.

The suite includes process design and modelling tools, a collaborative portal for publishing processes to employees, governance workflows for review and approval, and analysis and simulation functions. ARIS Process Mining analyses event data from systems such as SAP, Salesforce and ServiceNow to reveal actual process flows, bottlenecks and deviations, and compares them with designed models. Additional modules support enterprise architecture management, risk and compliance management, customer journey mapping and process-based monitoring of key performance indicators, and AI features assist with model generation and analysis. ARIS is available as a cloud service and in on-premise deployments, with editions ranging from entry-level offerings for smaller teams to enterprise configurations. It is frequently used in SAP transformation programmes, regulatory compliance initiatives and operational excellence projects.
