CloudCheckr is a cloud management platform that brings visibility and intelligence to public cloud environments, helping organisations lower costs, maintain security and compliance, and optimise resources. Founded in the United States, it was acquired by NetApp in 2021 and incorporated into the Spot by NetApp portfolio of cloud operations products. The platform addresses the challenges organisations face as their cloud usage grows across multiple accounts and providers: costs become harder to track and allocate, security misconfigurations can introduce risk, and demonstrating compliance with regulatory frameworks becomes increasingly complex. CloudCheckr’s approach is to combine cost management, security and compliance monitoring and resource optimisation in one platform, giving finance, operations and security teams a shared source of truth. It has been particularly popular with managed service providers and cloud resellers, who use it to manage billing and governance for many customers from a single interface.

Key capabilities include cost reporting and allocation, invoicing and chargeback tools, budget monitoring, and recommendations for rightsizing, idle resources and reserved instance or savings plan purchasing. Security and compliance features perform continuous checks against best practices and frameworks such as CIS benchmarks, PCI DSS, HIPAA and NIST, flagging misconfigurations and providing remediation guidance. Inventory and utilisation reporting give visibility into resources across accounts, while automation capabilities can help enforce policies. Multi-tenant features support MSPs and resellers with customer management, custom billing rules and white-label options. CloudCheckr supports major cloud providers, particularly Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, and integrates with other Spot by NetApp tools as well as ticketing and notification systems. It is delivered as software as a service and is aimed at enterprises, public sector organisations, managed service providers and cloud resellers. Pricing starts from around USD 500 with a free trial available; there is no permanently free version of the platform.
