Cloudera Enterprise

Cloudera Enterprise is the commercial data management and analytics platform from Cloudera, the company that built its business on enterprise distributions of Apache Hadoop and related open-source technologies. The product line has since evolved into the Cloudera Data Platform, which merges technology from Cloudera and Hortonworks following their 2019 merger and is positioned as a hybrid platform for data, analytics and artificial intelligence. Its central purpose is to let large organisations store and process vast volumes of structured and unstructured data, and run machine learning and analytics workloads on it, while retaining consistent security and governance whether data resides on premises or in public clouds.

The platform brings together components for storage and processing such as HDFS, Apache Ozone, Apache Iceberg, Apache Spark, Apache Hive and Apache Impala, alongside operational database capabilities through Apache HBase and real-time streaming with Apache Kafka, Flink and NiFi. Cloudera Machine Learning provides collaborative workspaces for data scientists to develop, train and deploy models, and newer releases add generative AI services and support for large language model workflows. Cloudera Data Warehouse offers self-service analytics with autoscaling compute, and Data Engineering supports pipeline development. The Shared Data Experience, known as SDX, applies unified security, lineage, metadata and governance policies across all services, built on Apache Ranger and Apache Atlas. Cloudera Manager and the management console handle cluster provisioning, monitoring and upgrades. The platform can be deployed in customer data centres, on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, or in hybrid configurations that allow workloads to move between environments. Cloudera integrates with widely used BI, data science and ETL tools. It is used by large enterprises and government agencies in banking, insurance, telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare and the public sector, where data volumes, regulatory requirements and hybrid infrastructure make a governed, open platform attractive.
