Nero 9

Nero 9 is a release of the long-established Nero multimedia suite from Nero AG, a German developer whose software became widely known for CD and DVD burning. Beyond disc authoring, the suite was built as a broad toolkit for creating, managing, converting and backing up digital media and data, positioning itself as a trusted all-round solution for home and business users. The problem it addresses is the need for a single package that handles common media tasks, from copying discs and archiving files to editing video and organising photo and music libraries, without buying separate specialist products. Nero’s approach combines a central launcher with dedicated applications for each task, giving users a guided entry point while still providing more detailed controls for those who need them, and it places particular weight on protecting important files through straightforward backup to hard drives and optical media.

Components of the suite include Nero Burning ROM for disc creation, Nero Express for simplified burning, Nero BackItUp for scheduled and incremental backups to hard drives, network locations and discs, and tools for video editing, DVD authoring, audio ripping and conversion, and media playback. Media management features allow users to organise and search photos, video and music, while conversion tools prepare content for mobile devices and other playback formats. Disc copying, data verification and support for Blu-ray, DVD and CD formats remain central to the product. Nero software runs on Windows and is typically used by home users, small offices, educators and creative hobbyists who want dependable burning and backup alongside basic media production, although later Nero versions have superseded this edition. A free version is available with limited functionality, a free trial of the full suite is offered, and paid licences start from around USD 149.95, depending on the package selected.
