ThingSpeak is an IoT analytics platform service from MathWorks that allows users to aggregate, visualise and analyse live data streams from sensors and devices in the cloud. Engineers, researchers and students building connected prototypes often need a straightforward way to send data from microcontrollers or gateways to an online store and then analyse it without setting up their own servers and databases. ThingSpeak addresses this by providing ready-made channels to which devices can post data over simple HTTP or MQTT interfaces, with the data instantly available for charting and processing. Its distinctive feature is tight integration with MATLAB, which lets users write and run MATLAB code directly in the cloud to analyse incoming data, perform calculations and trigger actions.
