Udext is an employee communication software solution designed to help organisations communicate with frontline, mobile, remote and deskless employees through SMS text messaging. Instead of requiring workers to download another application, create a new account or regularly check email, Udext enables companies to deliver important information directly to employees’ mobile phones.

The platform is particularly useful for organisations where employees work across construction sites, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, retail locations, healthcare environments, cleaning operations, transport networks and other distributed workplaces. Managers can use Udext to send announcements, emergency alerts, shift updates, training reminders, HR communications and operational instructions to individual employees, selected groups or the entire workforce.

Udext combines mass texting with two-way employee communication, allowing recipients to respond privately to messages. This helps managers collect confirmations, answer questions and receive real-time updates from workers without relying on email or separate messaging applications.

The software also supports scheduled messages, reusable templates, multilingual communication, automated SMS sequences, employee surveys, newsletters, digital forms, e-signatures and communication analytics. Employee information can be organised using custom fields such as job role, department, work location, shift or preferred language, making it easier to send targeted and personalised messages.

Udext supports more than 200 HRIS and payroll integrations, allowing employee data to remain synchronised with existing workforce systems. The platform is developed by Ulabs, Inc., a privately held software company headquartered in Chicago and founded in 2023.

About Udext

Udext is an SMS-based employee engagement platform built to improve communication with workers who may not have regular access to corporate email, computers or traditional intranet systems. Its SMS-first approach enables organisations to communicate with employees using a familiar channel that works on standard mobile phones.

The platform provides a central dashboard where authorised users can manage employee contacts, create workforce groups, send individual or bulk messages, schedule communications and review employee responses. Managers can communicate with staff without exposing workers’ personal phone numbers to one another, while employees can respond privately through text messages.

Udext goes beyond standard business texting software by offering employee-focused capabilities such as emergency notifications, automated onboarding sequences, multilingual messaging, employee surveys, newsletters, e-signatures and workforce communication analytics.

Companies can use the platform to manage everyday communications as well as time-sensitive events. A human resources team may use Udext to distribute policy updates, while an operations manager may send shift changes or request last-minute availability. Safety teams can issue emergency alerts, and supervisors can collect employee acknowledgements or incident reports.

Udext’s official product offering includes Communication, Employee Alerts, Sequences, Intranet, Surveys, E-Signature and Newsletters. The platform is intended to bring multiple workforce communication activities into one accessible environment.

Key Objectives of Udext

Improve Frontline Employee Communication

Udext helps organisations reach employees who may not regularly use company email, workplace portals or desktop applications. Important information is delivered through text messaging, making communication more accessible for deskless and mobile workers.

Increase Message Visibility

Workplace emails and application notifications may remain unread, particularly among field-based employees. Udext delivers updates directly to employees’ mobile messaging inboxes, increasing the likelihood that urgent information will be noticed promptly.

Support Two-Way Workforce Engagement

The platform enables employees to respond to communications instead of only receiving one-directional announcements. Managers can collect confirmations, questions, feedback and operational updates directly through SMS.

Reduce Communication Delays

Udext enables organisations to distribute information to large groups simultaneously. This reduces the need for managers to call employees individually or rely on supervisors to manually pass information across different teams.

Simplify Emergency Communication

The employee alert capabilities help businesses send urgent safety, weather, closure and emergency notifications. Messages can be targeted according to location, role, department or workforce group.

Improve Multilingual Communication

Udext helps organisations communicate with employees who use different languages. Multilingual messaging can reduce misunderstandings and make workplace information more inclusive.

Automate Repetitive Employee Communication

Through scheduled messages and SMS sequences, companies can automate onboarding reminders, training instructions, compliance requests, employee check-ins and recurring operational updates.

Centralise Communication Management

The platform enables managers to organise workforce contacts, communications, employee responses, surveys and message analytics through a central dashboard.

Key Features of Udext

Two-Way SMS Messaging

Udext enables organisations to communicate directly with employees through two-way text messaging. Managers can send messages from the platform, while employees can reply using their standard mobile messaging application.

Responses are organised within the Udext dashboard, allowing authorised users to manage conversations without relying on personal mobile devices. Two-way messaging can be used for operational questions, attendance confirmations, shift availability, safety reports, employee support and general workforce communication.

The feature is particularly valuable for dispersed teams because employees do not need to access a separate application to respond.

Key Capabilities Include:

Individual employee messaging
Private employee replies
Real-time workforce conversations
Centralised conversation management
Employee response tracking
Communication history
Mobile-friendly participation

Mass Text Messaging

Udext allows organisations to send messages to multiple employees simultaneously. Businesses can communicate with an entire workforce or create targeted recipient groups based on departments, roles, shifts, facilities or locations.

Recipients receive the message individually and can reply privately, preventing group-chat confusion and protecting employee contact information.

Mass texting can be used for company announcements, policy updates, operational notices, meeting reminders, staffing requests and urgent communications.

Key Capabilities Include:

Key Capabilities Include:

Employee name personalisation
Custom workforce fields
Dynamic message content
Shift-specific information

Key Capabilities Include:

Reusable message templates
Standardised communication
Emergency alert templates

Shift notification templates
Faster message preparation
Customisable content

Multilingual Messaging

Udext supports communication with multilingual workforces by helping managers deliver messages in employees’ preferred languages. The platform can translate communications so that workers receive information in a language they understand.

Why Choose Udext?

Udext can be a strong option for organisations that struggle to reach employees through email, workplace portals or mobile applications. Its main advantage is the use of SMS, a communication channel already familiar to most employees.

Workers may not need to download an app, remember another password or regularly check a company system. Messages arrive through their standard mobile messaging service, which can reduce adoption barriers among frontline and deskless employees.

The platform also supports two-way communication, meaning employees can respond to updates, ask questions and provide confirmations. This makes Udext more interactive than a basic one-directional mass notification system.

Organisations can segment employees by location, role, department or shift, helping managers avoid sending irrelevant messages to the entire workforce. Custom employee fields also allow messages to include personalised details.

Udext may be particularly useful for businesses with multilingual workforces. Managers can prepare one communication and deliver it according to employees’ preferred languages, reducing the risk that important safety or operational information will be misunderstood.

Automation is another important advantage. Companies can build SMS sequences for employee onboarding, training, reminders and scheduled follow-ups. This helps HR and operations teams maintain consistent communication without manually repeating every message.

The availability of more than 200 HRIS and payroll integrations can also reduce administrative work. Employee information can remain synchronised as people join, leave or move between departments.

Udext should not necessarily be viewed as a replacement for every workplace system. Companies may still need separate tools for project management, video meetings, workforce scheduling or full human resources administration. However, it can provide an effective communication layer for reaching employees who are difficult to engage through digital workplace applications.

Udext Pricing

Udext provides a dedicated pricing section, but businesses may need to contact the vendor or schedule a demonstration to confirm current plan details, usage allowances and implementation costs.

Pricing may depend on factors such as:

Number of employees
Monthly SMS volume
Selected product modules
HRIS integration requirements
Automated sequence usage
E-signature requirements
Survey capabilities
Newsletter functionality
Support requirements
Contract duration

Businesses should request a detailed quotation that explains SMS limits, additional message charges, implementation services, user permissions and integration costs.
