DiscoverText is a web-based collaborative text analytics platform developed by Texifter, a company founded by researchers with roots in academic social science. The product enables academics, businesses and government agencies to search, filter, cluster, code and classify large volumes of text data, such as social media posts, survey responses, public comments, emails and documents. It addresses a common research and analysis challenge: qualitative data can be rich and informative, but manually reading and coding thousands or millions of text items is impractical, while fully automated methods may lack the accuracy and transparency that researchers require. DiscoverText approaches this by combining human coding with machine learning, allowing teams to annotate samples of data collaboratively and then train classifiers that extend those judgements across much larger datasets. Key features include data import from a variety of sources, including social media platforms, RSS feeds, email, spreadsheets and document files, together with tools for de-duplication, clustering of near-duplicates and advanced search and filtering. Collaborative coding allows multiple coders to annotate the same data, with inter-rater reliability measures and adjudication workflows to ensure quality, which is particularly valuable in academic research. Machine learning classifiers can be trained on coded data to categorise new text automatically, and topic and sentiment analysis help reveal patterns. Metadata filtering, bucket creation and data sampling support focused analysis, while reporting and export functions allow results to be used in other statistical or visualisation tools. The platform has been widely used to analyse public comments submitted in government rulemaking processes, as well as social media data for research and market insight. As a cloud service, it supports distributed teams working on shared projects. DiscoverText is aimed at university researchers, graduate students, market researchers, communications professionals and public sector analysts. Pricing starts from around USD 1,000 with a free trial, and a free version is available for limited use.
