CADfix is a CAD data translation and repair product from International TechneGroup, commonly known as ITI, that repairs, heals and simplifies CAD models so they can be reused in design, analysis and manufacturing. Engineering organisations routinely exchange 3D geometry between different CAD systems and between design and simulation teams, but translated models often contain gaps, overlapping surfaces, sliver faces and other defects that prevent them from being meshed, analysed or machined. Detailed design models also contain features, such as small fillets, holes and logos, that are unnecessary for simulation and slow analysis considerably. CADfix addresses these problems with a combination of automated and interactive tools that diagnose and fix geometry issues and prepare models for downstream use. Its approach aims to reduce the substantial manual effort engineers otherwise spend cleaning up geometry before they can perform productive engineering work. Key capabilities include import and export of neutral and native CAD formats such as STEP, IGES, Parasolid, ACIS and major proprietary formats, automatic geometry healing using configurable repair wizards, and interactive tools for addressing more complex defects. Simplification features remove or suppress small details, fill holes and produce defeatured models suitable for finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics, while mid-surface extraction and medial object tools support thin-walled component analysis. Specialised options cater to applications such as visualisation, virtual reality and conversion of faceted or mesh data into usable solid models. CADfix can be scripted and automated for batch processing of large model sets, supporting enterprise workflows. The software is installed on engineering workstations and integrates with simulation environments. It is used by aerospace, defence, automotive, energy and manufacturing organisations, as well as simulation specialists and engineering service providers, that regularly move geometry between systems.
