dbForge DevOps Automation for SQL Server is a Devart solution that brings continuous integration and continuous delivery practices to Microsoft SQL Server database development. While application code is commonly built, tested and deployed automatically, database changes are often still applied by hand, which leads to drift between environments, failed releases and bottlenecks for development teams. dbForge DevOps Automation addresses this by packaging database changes, validating them and deploying them through the same automated pipelines used for application code. Its core approach is to combine Devart’s established SQL Server tools — for source control, schema comparison, unit testing, data generation and documentation — into a set of automation steps that can be orchestrated by popular build servers, so that each change is consistently built, tested and released with less manual effort and lower risk. This helps teams release database changes more frequently while reducing the likelihood of deployment errors reaching production. The solution provides plugins and command-line tooling for Jenkins, Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Bamboo and GitHub Actions, as well as PowerShell cmdlets for custom scripting. Pipeline stages can create a database from scripts in version control, populate it with realistic test data, run tSQLt unit tests, generate documentation, publish NuGet packages and synchronise target databases using schema and data comparison. Integration with Git, SVN, Team Foundation Version Control and other systems allows database objects to be tracked alongside application code. Because it relies on the dbForge SQL Tools suite, teams gain access to the underlying graphical tools for day-to-day development as well as automation. The product is installed on Windows build agents and works with on-premises SQL Server and Azure SQL. It is aimed at development teams, DBAs and DevOps engineers in organisations that release SQL Server applications frequently. Pricing starts from around USD 429.95 with a free trial; there is no permanently free version.
