SureLock Kiosk Lockdown, from 42Gears, locks Android, iOS and Windows devices into kiosk mode so they can only be used for their intended purpose. The problem it solves is specific and widespread: any organisation that puts a tablet or phone into the hands of a customer, a visitor or a shift worker discovers quickly that a general-purpose device invites general-purpose use. Staff install games, browse social media and change settings; customers wander out of the intended application into the browser or the camera roll; someone eventually factory resets a unit. The result is wasted time, support calls, inappropriate use and in some cases a data exposure. SureLock restricts the device to an approved application or a defined set, and blocks everything else. Configuration covers which applications are permitted, whether a single application runs full-screen or a controlled home screen presents several, and which hardware and system functions remain available — the status bar, notifications, volume and power buttons, camera, USB transfer, safe mode, task switcher and access to settings can each be disabled. Peripheral and network settings can be locked so a device cannot be moved onto an unapproved Wi-Fi network. Branding lets the lockdown screen carry the organisation's identity, which matters for customer-facing units. Administrator access is protected by passcode so authorised staff can exit lockdown for maintenance without exposing the option to users. Mass deployment is a particular emphasis, with configurations exported and applied across hundreds or thousands of devices through file transfer, QR provisioning or the wider SureMDM platform from the same vendor, avoiding device-by-device setup. Typical applications include retail self-service and price checkers, restaurant ordering, digital signage, patient check-in, museum and exhibition displays, warehouse scanners, field service handsets and school tablets. A free version and free trial are available, with paid licensing from around USD 2.99 per device.
