ABDCS

ABDCS is a suite of airline and airport operational systems providing reservations, departure control, weight and balance, and related tools built to full IATA standards but priced for cost-sensitive carriers and airports. The commercial logic is significant: the major global distribution and passenger service systems are built for large network carriers and priced accordingly, leaving regional airlines, charter operators, start-up carriers and smaller airports either paying disproportionately or running on improvised arrangements that limit their ability to compete. The reservation system handles inventory and schedule management, fare construction and pricing, booking and ticketing, ancillary sales, group bookings and integration with distribution channels including GDS connectivity and online booking engines, producing the industry-standard messaging required to interline with other carriers. The departure control system manages check-in at airport counters, kiosks, mobile and web, seat allocation, baggage acceptance and tracking, boarding and gate reading, passenger manifests, and the regulatory passenger data transmissions such as APIS that governments require. Weight and balance calculates load distribution, centre of gravity and trim for each departure against aircraft-specific parameters, producing the loadsheet the captain signs — a safety-critical function subject to regulatory approval, which is why standards compliance rather than mere functionality is the deciding factor in procurement. Additional modules cover flight operations, crew and schedule support, revenue accounting, reporting and business intelligence. Systems are designed to interoperate with the wider aviation ecosystem via standard IATA message formats, so a small carrier can participate fully in industry processes alongside far larger operators.
