Lightspeed Restaurant vs FlexiBake Comparison: Everything You Need to Know Before Choosing

Lightspeed Restaurant is a cloud-based point-of-sale system from Lightspeed Commerce, a Canadian company that serves hospitality and retail businesses internationally. This listing highlights its use by bakeries, although the product serves a wide range of food service operations. It addresses the operational demands of hospitality businesses, where orders must be taken quickly and accurately, menus and prices change frequently, staff need training and oversight, and owners want real-time insight into sales and costs. Traditional POS systems tied to fixed terminals and local servers limit flexibility. Lightspeed’s approach is an iPad-based POS backed by cloud management, so that staff can take orders at the counter, at tables or elsewhere, while managers can update menus and monitor performance from anywhere. Key features include menu and product management with modifiers and combinations, table and floor plan management, order routing to kitchen printers and displays, split bills, tipping, and integrated payments through Lightspeed Payments. Inventory and recipe management track ingredient usage and costs, while staff management covers user permissions, time tracking and performance reports. Advanced reporting and analytics provide insight into sales trends, product performance and peak periods across one or several locations. Online ordering, QR code ordering and delivery integrations extend sales channels, and loyalty and customer management features support repeat business. Lightspeed integrates with accounting systems such as Xero and QuickBooks, reservation platforms, delivery services and many other applications through its marketplace and API. The system runs on iPads with compatible hardware such as printers, cash drawers and payment terminals, with cloud-based back-office access. Its target customers include cafés, bakeries, restaurants, bars, quick service outlets and multi-location hospitality groups in North America, Europe and Australia. Pricing starts from around USD 69 per month with a free trial; there is no permanently free version.
